Exciting news here at FMI, with Chris Mould shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award, and Donough O' Malley scooping some prizes too!
The shortlist for the Greenaway medal was announced this week, and we could not be happier to see Chris'
Pirates 'N' Pistols making it into the final eight. The medal is awarded annually for an outstanding book in terms of illustration for children and young people. The winner receives a shiny gold medal along with the prestige that comes with the famous prize. Chris is in good company this year with other nominees such as
Emily Gravett,
Chris Haughton,
Jon Klassen and
Helen Oxenbury. We are keeping our fingers, legs, toes and even pistols crossed for Chris!
But with that amazing news comes more, as this week we also found out another of our illustrators has won a few gongs too!

The World of Norm, illustrated by our very own Donough, scooped up the top prize for younger readers at the Scottish Book Trust Awards 2013. The book, by Jonathan Meres, was announced the winner at a ceremony last Thursday in Dundee's Caird Hall. To top it all off, it was announced as the winner in the Phoenix Book Award just yesterday.
All in all, a very good week here at FMI!!
