The Images annual displays the best of British illustration in a variety of categories, which we here at FMI are happy to say that we had not one, but three Illustrators included in the Children's book section.
Myself and
Frances attended the private view and awards ceremony which was jam packed with people from the industry. The new settings of Somerset House, while an amazing venue, meant there was a restriction on the number of pieces which are on display, leaving the organisers the unenviable task of selecting only fifty images to hang on the walls.
The book itself is exploding with some amazing images, including the following from Jill Latter.
The piece is from her first self-penned picture book 'Mother Hens Important day', published by Nord Sud books and being launched next year in Europe and North America.
This lovely dip-pen illustration is an interior image for the book '
Wilma Tenderfoot and the Fatal Phantom', the third in the series written by
Emma Kennedy.
And finally, I was lucky enough to have two images included from 'An Coileach Codlatach'.
Translated into English it means ' The Sleepy Rooster' and was written by Irish writer Nuala Nic Con Iomaire and published by the Irish company
Futa Fata.
A Chinese edition has just been launched I'm also happy to say.
After a great night chatting and drinking, I sadly had to do a Cinderella and leave to get the last train home (early morning flight was on the cards), but was happy to have a good flick through the book.
And be a little bit proud (as everyone included should be) of seeing my work in a mighty publication!
The exhibition is free and open to the public until 28 October, before it goes on a nationwide tour.
