Images 34 Exhibition- the Best of British Contemporary Illustration 2010

 
Tuesday September 7th was the The AOI Private View of the AOI Images Exhibition 2010, at the London College of Communication.

 

 
 James de la Rue won a Bronze Award in the Children's Books section, for an illustration from the Gladiator Boy series, published by Hodder Children's Books.

Jill Latter and Henning Lohlein also had illustrations selected to exhibit in the show. Jill's illustration is from Gilbert The Goose, which is being published next year by Nord - Sued Books in Switzerland.

 

Above is one of Henning's two selected illustrations: "Like Munchhausen" from the book "Your little Trouble shooter" ("Dein kleiner Kummerkiller"), written by Katja Reider and published by Hoffmann & Campe in Hamburg 2010, and below an illustration for an editorial piece about "Honoured Bankers".

 

The prizes and certificates were awarded by the judges and their work much praised.

 

After the show Jill (in this picture), James and I went on to the Borough Market for fish and chips to celebrate in suitable fashion, although Henning, who was at another show in Bristol, was missed. I hope it will encourage more to enter next years competition. Images 35 – the best of British illustration 2011, is still open for submissions until the now extended deadline of 15th September 2010.

 

The work looked great and the venue worked really well. A Brilliant Show.
