White Ravens Bologna Exhibition

Donough O' Malley is very happy to announce his inclusion in the International Youth Library's White Raven exhibition in Bologna.

The People's Book Prize 2011/12

Bee Willey's The Mouse who saved Egypt written by Karim Alrawi and published by Tradewind Books has been entered into the children's books section of  The People's Book Prize.

It's that time of the year again when the great and good in British Illustration pop up in the A.O.I's 'IMAGES' annual. Judgement on number 36 is out soon, while IMAGES 35 recently had it's private view in London, where the various awards in different categories were dished out. Work to appear in the annual is jury selected, so not every Tom Dick and Harry can get in, and subsequently the standard is always high.

Well we are happy here at team FMI to say that we have had not just one, nor two, but three people manage to get into the hefty tome. And if that wasn't enough, some of them even got a number of illustrations into it.

The Big Draw 2011

As part of the Big Draw 2011, a number of Illustrators in Bristol U.K. will be holding an event this Saturday 8th October.

The Guardian - Buy of the day!

Just as I am gluing the word “end” on the final page of “A Frisbee to Fly”, the latest of Secret Seed Society books, I was very excited to hear that they have been featured on the Guardian as the “buy of the day”! 

Nokia Shorts 2011 - Finalist Temujin Doran

 

 

 

 

Many congratulations to Temujin Doran on being picked as one of the eight finalists for the Nokia Shorts 2011 with 'The Adventures of a Cardboard Box'! Over 600 talented filmmakers pitched to Nokia Shorts this year with ideas ranging from documentary, to comedy, to post-apocalyptic western.

 

The Independent - Books of the Year: Children's books

 
It's been quite a year for James de la Rue. He's been in huge demand and flat out working for Walker ('Emily's Surprising Voyage'), Puffin (four 'Spy Dog' and 'Spy Pups' books), Penguin ('Great Expectations'), Hodder ('Gladiator Boy' editions 13 - 15) and Random House ('A Girl Called Dog'). To top if off he scooped the AOI Best of British Illustration - Images 34 Children's Books Bronze Award 2010 in September, and earlier this month featured in The Independent's 'Books of the Year: Children's books - Bears, rabbits, tigers, flies (and snot-caked bullies)' By Inbali Iserles.

Centrespace Gallery Exhibtion, Bristol

 
As every year, most of the people who have a studio in Centrespace (6,Leonard Lane, Bristol BS11EA) will have a pre-christmas exhibition at Centrespace Gallery, starting on Friday 26th November until Wednesday 1st December, open daily from 11am until 5pm, private view Saturday 27th November from 4pm until 7pm, with mulled wine and cake. So come along if you are in Bristol.
